“ janie barnett” (1988)

On vinyl. Produced by Mick Hanson and jb. Recording, artwork and design by Mick Hanson. We made a record with band members, thinking we would bypass the major labels and sell on the streets. There were a good handful of others doing it as well. We all thought it was an idea that just might catch on, and one or two band members rightly predicted it would be the future of the music business.

"from a glass house" (2000)
artwork by Kurt Godwin

A collection of jazz tunes recorded live by Jazz Neighbors, aka the Hollin Hills Jazz Ensemble. The community of Hollin Hills in Northern Virginia has been hailed as a beacon of architectural design – light-filled houses meant to share space with the natural landscape rather than usurp it. In 2000 Hollin Hills celebrated 50 years of community life, overgrown ivy and aversion to sidewalks with a party, culminating one year later with a recording by the party’s hired band – Peter Edeleman, Bob Field, Bill Radin, Jim West, and Janie Barnett, five musicians who grew up together in the community.
